Design Interns Share Some Insights

July 10, 2012

Here is a snap shot of what our awesome design interns have been doing. Sam and Ryan are playing a huge role in the new updates to our interview archive. We can’t wait to show you all the work we’ve been doing, but here is a sneak peek!

Hello! My name is Ryan Lee and this is officially my first blog post ever. I feel apprehensive and excited at the same time because I want to say so much, but I don’t quite know how to say it.

Let me start off by saying that I am extremely blessed to be here at Roadtrip Nation, and that everyone from the office to the Roadtrippers we sent out Thursday, have been amazing! I have been simultaneously challenged and encouraged to continue to “define my own Road in life.”

But enough small talk—I bet you’re wondering what exactly I do here. I was brought on as a part time Summer intern to compose, compile, and create 300-400 collages. That’s not a typo, and yes it is difficult to keep the ideas fresh with so many collages to make. I try and take a new approach and use new materials every day so that I don’t get stuck making the same thing. Sometimes, when I get super tired, I feel like my brain is just is telling me, “NO MORE!” while my hand continues to place things on the canvas. Nevertheless, it is the most fun I have ever had at a job.

The purpose of these little trinkets will be to go on the website as thumbnail links to Leader interviews, as well as pages in the Roadtrip Nation workbook. Finally, they will become a permanent part of the RTN headquarters when we hang them on the wall. Again, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with such a wonderful group of people that are working hard to encourage young and old alike to carve their own path and follow their dreams. -Ryan

Sam here!

Interning at Roadtrip Nation may have ruined me for future work at a more traditional company.  The people I’ve encountered here are passionate and excited about what they do, and have a lot of fun doing it.   It’s a company that encourages creativity to its full potential, which makes my job as a Graphic Design Intern all the more exciting.  Even more than that though, Roadtrip Nation is a company that strives for a deeper and unique purpose, both in themselves and in the people they inspire.

I’ve only been working here a little over a month, but in that time I’ve had to do a lot of self-reflection as to what Road I’m on, and what I want my next step to be career-wise.  I don’t have it figured out yet, but my time here so far has made me more confident that in time, I will find or create the right path for myself.  I’m excited about my future, and I’m so thankful that I have this summer to spend with Roadtrip Nation as I begin to follow my own Road in life.
