Aggregating our Sources for Inspiration

January 30, 2012

Hello, Design Department here!

We often have visitors at Roadtrip Nation HQ, and the most common question we get during tours of the office is how we come up with our ideas. While we don’t have step-by-step guidelines of how to generate an idea, what we can say has been helpful is having a constant running image/inspiration collection to refer to for projects.

We geek out on following designers on Twitter, design blogs, design newsletters, and Facebook accounts. We share our finds with one another in a variety of ways—such as emailing screenshots, sharing a pin on Pinterest, or file sharing on Skype for images. We have now decided to aggregate all of these pieces into one streamlined space—Gimme Bar!

Gimme Bar describes itself as:

“Don’t bookmark the web. Save it. Gimme Bar doesn’t just keep bookmarks; it stores items in your personal library in the cloud. You can even back things up to Dropbox. Take the content that you’ve been saving and tell a story about yourself or the world. Gimme Bar collections make great Wishlists, Favorites, Inspiration, Research”

We are really excited about being able to access this anywhere. The tagging capabilities it offers are awesome, but mostly, we’re excited about being able to have all of our collective favorites in one account.

Here is a quick glimpse into how the interface looks:
