“You did it! Now go away.”
Joshua Davis is an artist, web designer, technologist, author–and quite simply put, an all round bad ass (pardon our French). To say Joshua has experienced great successes would be an understatement. His work is in the Smithsonian, so he’s kind of a big deal.
This blog post could be all snippets of Joshua Davis quotes, because it honestly felt like every thing that Joshua said was empowerment gold (with some colorful language intertwined, so be warned).
“Take pride in the fear of the unknown!”
“To be done is to die.”
What happens once you reach your goal? When you have been deemed a success? We always talk about the fear of never becoming successful, but what about the aftermath of success? For Joshua, it meant being forced by the industry to replicate the same work, over and over again. Which left him unfulfilled and looking for innovation. So, he was left to revaluate his voice and practice, which led him back to school, to extend himself and embrace the unknown. Stay teachable.
The takeaway: “Never let success get in the way of your creativity.”
