Hey blogosphere! This week we’re talking about bucket lists—the stuff we want to accomplish/see/be/experience most in our lives! What are your biggest goals? What’s the stuff that will fulfill you so that you don’t look back on your life with regret? Our resident chalk expert Ryan drew up this awesome design to help get you brainstorming on the topic.
I’ve thought a lot about what would be on my list. There’s some silly stuff on there—I’d love to experience zero gravity!—and there’s some boring stuff, too (I want to learn another language). But most of my list boils down to one theme: I want to travel the world. Specifically, I want to make it to every continent before I die. Putting that out there in the open for people to see makes me a little nervous because it puts pressure on me to make it happen! But I’m starting to realize that that’s not such a bad thing.
The truth is, it’s easy to think we have a bunch of time, and to push our dreams to the side. I tell myself I’ll learn Spanish tomorrow. Maybe next week I’ll start saving up for my next backpacking trip. Next month will be the month that I finally make time for yoga…maybe. Time is the perfect excuse. There’s always tomorrow. But what if we suddenly had only a few weeks to make our dreams come true, and (dare I say it?) make our lives meaningful?
I’m not saying there’s a zombie apocalypse on the way, but I AM suggesting that maybe it’s time we stopped waiting before taking action toward fulfilling our biggest aspirations. Let me be clear—“taking action” doesn’t necessarily entail running to the airport today and buying a ticket to that place you’ve always wanted to visit. Rather, today is a great day to start planning how you can cross things off that bucket list! Set dates by which you would like to reach your goals. And hold yourself accountable to those timelines.
Hopefully this chalk-wall prompt can give you a bit of inspiration to get going. I’d love to hear what’s on each of your personal bucket lists. Please share what’s important to you (loud and proud!) on our Facebook post! Then start brainstorming ways you can make those dreams a reality. Make a plan and a timeline. Then go for it!
And for those of you who are sitting there thinking, “Man, the number-one thing on my bucket list is to travel across the country in a big Green RV, interviewing inspirational leaders who have forged their own Roads in life”—well, do I have great news for you! Applications for the Summer Roadtrip opened yesterday on our Facebook page! Check ‘em out here.
